System Features
How to build a catalog of named plan/product capabilities and attach them to what you sell.
What this does for you
System Features let you define the named capabilities you want to communicate as part of a Plan or Product — things like "Priority support" or "Advanced reporting." You build a small catalog of these once, then attach them from any Plan or Product editor, so what's included in each tier stays consistent everywhere you show it — proposals, self-serve checkout, and your own team's reference.
This is a separate concept from the "feature flags" that control which sections of the Kribana app itself are switched on for your organization.
Who can use it
Access is controlled by your organization's role permissions:
- Viewing the System features list requires feature.view.
- Creating a new system feature requires feature.create.
- Editing an existing one requires feature.edit.
- Archiving or reactivating requires feature.archive.
If you don't have the right permission, the page shows a "You don't have access to this page" message, and action buttons are disabled with a tooltip asking you to contact your admin.
Where to find it
Go to Settings → Configure billing → System features (/settings/configurebilling/systemFeatures).
How to use it
Creating a system feature
- Click + Add system feature. A panel titled Create Feature opens on the right.
- Enter a Feature name and a Status.
- Choose how its FUID is assigned: Generate (the default) or Type id manually, which reveals a FUID field for your own value.
- Click Create.
Editing a system feature
Use the row's Edit action. This reopens the same panel, titled Edit Feature. Unlike a billing unit's BUID, a system feature's FUID isn't locked after creation — you can still switch its FUID method and type a new (unique) id here if you need to.
Archiving and reactivating a system feature
Use the Archive / Unarchive row action. You'll be asked to confirm — "Do you want to archive/activate this system feature — [name]?" — before the change goes through. There's no delete action; archiving is how you retire a feature you no longer want offered.
Attaching a feature to what you sell
Open a Plan and use its Link Features tab, or open a Product and use its Features tab. Both open the same picker (labeled "System features") with a + Add a new system feature shortcut back to this page if the one you need doesn't exist yet. There's no way to see, from the System features list itself, which Plans or Products currently include a given feature.
Exporting system feature data
Use the Export button in the top-right — Current table data or Full data export.
Tips / things to know
- A manually typed FUID, like a billing unit's BUID, must be unique.
- There's no separate description field on a system feature today — just its name, status, and FUID.
- The panel is titled "Create Feature" / "Edit Feature," not "Create System Feature" — that's just this screen's wording, it's the same System Features catalog.
- A role granted feature.edit but not feature.archive will be able to edit a system feature but see its Archive/Unarchive action disabled — if that happens to you, ask your admin to also grant archive access.
